I think it's mainly that human beings as a whole often act uncompassionate, combined with the fact that most religion seems to offer no remedy, thus the irony. :)DT Strainnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-885527867833311224.post-1316346610678727902006-02-24T14:56:00.000-06:002006-02-24T14:56:00.000-06:00Good reading here. :) I also find it odd that ma...Good reading here. :)

I also find it odd that many clearly religious people are lacking in tolerance and compassion. I also seriously question whether certain religions alone have the answer (although I have a hard time considering Buddhism a religion rather than a philosophy).flashcathttp://scintillations.blogs.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-885527867833311224.post-43087220288692717662006-02-24T17:40:00.000-06:002006-02-24T17:40:00.000-06:00I think we should also keep in mind that, even is ...I think we should also keep in mind that, even is a particular religion or philosophy DID have "the answer" that it would still be up to us to follow it faithfully. In other words, even a perfect philosophy will do us only so good since we are not perfect people. We can't really judge a belief system's claims based on the behavior of its self-proclaimed followers, but rather on the content of that system itself. As to getting people to be more faithful to their own alleged beliefs, I don't think we can help that, except to continue to highlight and educate others on the importance of compassion.DT Strainnoreply@blogger.com
